So you’ve just found the perfect RV for your vacations at Lee’s Auto and RV Ranch and are ready to start planning your first voyage? Below, we will show you all our RV tips for first-time RVers to help you get to the campground and enjoy your time with your family without the stress. Don’t miss these RV tips.
Learn Your RV
The first thing you’re going to want to do before you take your RV to the campground is to learn everything you can about how to use your RV correctly. This includes figuring out how to open your awning, get the slide-outs set up, and properly hook and unhook the RV from your towing vehicle. And what accessories you’ll need once you arrive at the campground.
Practice Setup
Next, you will want to practice setting your RV up before you arrive at the campground. This can be as simple as just learning where all of your hookups for your city water and sewage hoses are, testing out the tanks making sure you’re not know how to hook up your electricity and how to chock your wheels.
Get the Right Accessories
Speaking of chocking the wheels, you’ll want to ensure you get all of the necessary accessories for your RV. A common misconception among first-time RV years is that the RV will come with everything you need for your first camping trip, and that is simply not true. You will need to purchase black tank hoses, city water hoses, water pressure, regulators wheel, chocks, and a few other basics before you’re ready for your first outing. Talk to your RV dealer about all of the accessories they recommend for your RV type, and ask about deals on RV accessories with a purchase.
Test Out Draining the Tanks
You will also want to practice draining your black and gray tanks. Both of these tanks hold wastewater from your RV, and draining them is one of the necessary steps before you head home from the campground. However, it can be a messy task, and you don’t want to get caught Covered in your black tank contents when you’re trying to hit the road. Practice draining your tanks by sealing the tanks filling them with clean water, and then hooking up the hoses and draining.
Practice Backing Your RV
Lastly, practice backing your RV into a spot. We also recommend taking some time just to learn how to drive your RV comfortably, but if you don’t have time, at least spend an hour or so learning how to back your RV into a spot correctly.
